The super cool Joe Pineapples has had more than his fair share of facelifts over the years...
His original design (pictured left, art by Kevin O'Neill) was, frankly, uninspiring, but it was this that he kept for all of his appearances, including his guest appearance in the Ro-Busters tale Old Red Eyes is Back...
Art by Bryan Talbot
...and Red Planet Blues...
Art by Steve Dillon (colours by John Higgins)
In his early appearances, Joe has a weak, bespectacled look about him - quite a contrast to his "I'm too cool to kill" character that we've all come to know...
Art by Carlos Ezquerra Art by Brett Ewins Art by Mike McMahon Art by Dave Gibbons

It fell to Bryan Talbot to introduce a new look for Joe for his triumphant return in Nemesis Book 4: The Gothic Empire...
The 'Sam Spade' look didn't last, and Joe traded in his hat and tie for a helmet and dog tags...

With Black Hole, Simon Bisley gave us the model for the 'modern' Joe...
...but not before S.M.S. had his turn in the spotlight, showing Joe with shades of Happy Shrapnel...
Later, Simon Bisley returned to give us Joe's infamous (and undeniably cool) leather jacket...

Kevin Walker signed up as regular artist for the series, and we got an equally cool looking Joe...

By the time of Khronicles Joe has become a robotic, muscle ridden skinhead, whereas previously, he was a turtle-helmeted bank clerk with a gun. Hardly what one imagines in an intergalactic
assassin...

With Khronicles of Khaos, Joe finally let his inner desires out and expressed himself more colourfully. The clothes may have changed, but the hardware remained the same...
When Hellbringer rolled around, Joe was working for the Terran Empire, and had traded in the garter belts and ABC insignias for a new paint job...

Carl Critchlow offered up Joe in red leather...
...while Liam McCormack-Sharpe gave us this stylish version...
We had some more from Boo Cook...
...a smaller chinned Joe from Tom Carney...
...a black and white offering from Kevin Walker...
...and a slightly more organic take from Clint Langly...
We also got this stylish rendition from Henry Flint...
...and a surprise return to the old school with Mike McMahon in The Tripods...

Honourable mentions go to Tom Artis, Doug Hazlewood and Rich Larson, who immortalised Joe on some of the covers from the Fleetway / Quality series...

A very special mention goes to Chris Ollis (aka Happyoast of B3ta fame) for this unique rendition of Joe...
