Can't believe it's been so long since I did this...
First off, thanks to everyone who's visited the site and signed the guestbook. All your support is appreciated.
I know updates have been non-existent, but real life's pretty much taken over all of my spare time, and I'm finding it harder to devote any time to Spread The Word. However, the behind the scenes maintenance has continued - albeit sporadically - and there's some new content due to appear soon. I'm going to attempt to get back on top of the reviews over the next few months, and try and complete the archive (or at least fill gaps where I can).
So, watch this space!
|
| 24 / 12 / 05 |
Seems like forever since I last did this...
Anyway, yes, we're still here, but there's been a lot going on behind the scenes - namely tidying up the code used to make these pages you're looking at. We'll be back in 2006, though, with some brand spanking new updates. Until then...
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

More updates... The covers for the DC editions of The Mek-Nificent Seven and Black Hole have been added to The Vaults, and the The Reprint Index has been updated accordingly.
Also, we have a couple of new 2000AD miniatures, courtesy of Kevin Dallimore, which you can see here.

|
We're still here, and we have updates!
A pre-cast of the Nemesis miniature from War Games Foundry has been added to Immortal Visions. You can see more of the upcoming miniatures, sculpted by Tim Prow, at his website Free Radical Design Studio.
Thanks go to George Fairlamb.
|
| 24 / 9 / 04 |
So you want to know where that mysterious ABC Warrior miniature came
from, eh? Just put your mouse over the image...
|
| 18 / 9 / 04 |
A few issues later and The ABC Warriors are off again... But Spread
The Word isn't going anywhere!
Thanks to Rufus Dayglo, a new section of Immortal
Visions has opened, featuring scans of some original artwork from
ABC Warriors, Nemesis and Ro-Busters.
Go and check out the newly opened Original
Art page.
For all you miniature collectors out there, there's also another new
section in Immortal Visions,
featuring the ABC Warriors-related miniatures from
War Games
Foundry. And if that wasn't enough for you, there's also some new
items in the Miscellaneous
section, and The Vaults, as
well as some updated images dotted throughout the site.
Also, there's a brand new guestbook in The
Temple of Terminus, ready and waiting to be filled with only the
purest of comments...
|
| 4 / 8 / 04 |
Well, The ABC Warriors are back and so are we!
Prog 1400 sees the return of The Warriors in The
Shadow Warriors Book 2. Needless to say, the site has been updated
accordingly, and will continue to be updated throughout the series.
Also, War
Games Foundry has a series of 2000AD previews available on their
website, including Ro-Jaws, Deadlock and Torquemada.
|
| 19 / 3 / 04 |
I know, I know... Things have been slow on the update front, but I've
taken the opportunity to make some much needed,er, updates.
First off, I have to thank Kevin Dallimore once more
for supplying a picture of the latest Warrior to make it into miniature
format: Mek-Quake! You can see him, and his fellow
Warriors here.
Also, Kevin's uploaded more 2000AD miniatures at his own site, which
you can see by following this link: http://www.kevindallimore.co.uk/MODELS/SF/index2000ad2.htm.
Also, The Reprint Index has
been updated to include the new softcover edition of Nemesis:
Death to All Aliens.
Black Flame's original ABC Warriors Novel, The
Medusa War by Pat Mills and Alan Mitchell is now out, with
a revised cover by Kevin
Walker, which you can see here.
You find out more about this and the other 2000AD novels from Black
Flame's website, located at http://www.blackflame.com.
|
| 13 / 3 / 04 |
Kevin
Dallimore has once more been in touch, asking for a quick plug for
his newly revised website. Under the circumstances, it's the least I
can do, so jump on over to http://www.kevindallimore.co.uk
and have a look around, especially at his sci-fi
section, which features all of the 2000AD models
from War Games
Foundry.
|
| 9 / 3 / 04 |
Once again, my hat goes off to Mr Kevin
Dallimore for being a great bloke.
Not only has he pulled together all of the 2000AD
miniatures from War
Games Foundry onto one page, he's also linked up Spread
The Word! on that same page! You can see all of the Foundry's
2000AD figures at http://www.wargamesfoundry.com/collections/2000AD/index.asp.
Also, Kevin's got some of those earlier figures, painted by himself
up for sale on E-Bay. You can bid
for your very own Judge
Dredd, Johnny
Alpha and Hammerstein
by following those links. But hurry! The clock is ticking...
|
| 6 / 3 / 04 |
War Games
Foundry painter extraordinaire and all round good bloke Kevin
Dallimore has sent me pictures of the latest 2000AD
miniatures from The Foundry range. Hammerstein,
Joe Pineapples, Judge Giant, Morrigun,
Blackblood and Johnny Alpha can all
be seen here.
Anyone interested in purchasing any of these figures, should visit
The
War Games Foundry website.
Anyone wanting to see more of Kevin's work, should check out his website:
www.kevindallimore.co.uk.
Thanks again, Kevin.

| 28 / 2 / 04 |
Coming in April 2004 from Black
Flame is the original 2000AD novel ABC
Warriors: The Medusa War by Pat Mills and Alan Mitchell.
On the front lines of The Medusa War, Hammerstein,
the taciturn Joe Pineapples and the veteran Happy
Shrapnel lead a squad of rookies, straight from the factory,
into battle. The human officers are safely behind the lines in underground
bunkers directing the battle. They can communicate directly with their
robots by radio, and watch their progress on a holographic image –
they can even plug into the robots thoughts. But when the stench of
rebellion crosses the battlefield, each robot must choose sides or die!
You find out more about this and the other 2000AD novels from Black
Flame's website, located at http://www.blackflame.com.
You can see the cover, by Greg Staples, here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Just time to squeeze in a quick plug for all you old skool Marvel UK
fans: My new side project, The
Complete Death's Head, has gone live, and is waiting to be looked
at. Hopefully, it'll be the first in a trio of archive sites, with Dragon's
Claws and The Sleeze Brothers making up the
missing spaces.
|
| 15 / 12 / 03 |
No updates for months, and then three come along at once...
I'm reliably informed that the Rogue Trooper and the
G.I. figures from War
Games Foundry are not new, or indeed from War Games
Foundry, but actually from a range of 2000AD
figures as published by Games Workshop during the 1980's,
when they had the licence.
Thanks again to Kevin
Dallimore for keeping me straight.
|
| 14 / 12 / 03 |
Well, it would seem our Christmas hiatus was a little premature...
War Games
Foundry painter Kevin
Dallimore e-mailed me with details of his work on the 2000AD
range of miniatures, including the new Rogue Trooper figure - which
you can see here.
Kevin also graciously sent some new images of the existing Judge
Dredd, Johnny
Alpha and Hammerstein
figures.
A rather nice image of the Judge Dredd and Hammerstein miniatures,
also sent by Kevin, can be found in the Miscellaneous
section of Immortal Visions.
Anyone interested in purchasing any of these figures, should visit
The
War Games Foundry website.
Anyone wanting to see more of Kevin's work, should check out his website:
www.kevindallimore.co.uk.
Thanks again, Kevin.
|
| 12 / 12 / 03 |
Yes, we're still here...
Various other commitments have led to a stupidly long time away from
the site, and that's something I plan to rectify in the new year. In
the meantime, I'd like to wish you all a very
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
and thank you for your continued interest in the site.
|
| 21 / 9 / 03 |
Okay, Summer Holidays are over, and it's back to work.
To kick off with, we have something hot off the rumour mill: Pat Mills
is working on a trilogy of ABC Warriors novels for Games Workshop's
fiction label. As yet, there's no info on when they're likely to be
published.
If that wasn't enough for you, George Fairlamb has come forward
with a little something from War
Games Foundry - three pre-casts of 2000AD 28mm minatures, including
Mongrol. You can see the images here,
and in the Miscellaneous
section of Immortal Visions.
As yet, there's no news on whether they'll even be released, never mind
completed.
And, to round off this update, there's a whole new look for the Story
Synopses, with new commentary from Andy
McDermott and Chris
Rowland, and some new goodies in The
Temple of Terminus. As ever, see Torq-In
for more.
|
| 21 / 6 / 03 |
I'd like to welcome aboard Spread The Word's newest contributer
Payndz, a.k.a. Andy
McDermott. To coincide with Andy's debut, he's provided the first
review of The Shadow
Warriors, amongst others, which can be located in the slightly altered
ABC Warriors Story Synopses.
|
| 31 / 5 / 03 |
As everyone who's interested probably knows by now, Book 1 of The
Shadow Warriors has drawn to a close after only six episodes, with
Book 2 set to appear next year. Needless to say, Spread The
Word has been updated accordingly, with some of the The Shadow Warriors
making their debut in The Supporting
Cast section, with more to follow later.
Big thanks go out to Matt Clark for sending me some jaw-dropping
3D images of Nemesis, which you can see in the newly opened Fan
Art section in Immortal
Visions, along with Craig Antcliff's rendition of Joe. If
you'd like to see more of Matt's work, visit his website at www.3dluvr.com/acme.
|
| 3 / 5 / 03 |
Due to a oversight at this end, Chris
Rowland's 'Second Opinion' for Red
Planet Blues failed to materialise on the site at the last update,
an error which has now been rectified. You can find it in the ABC
Warriors Story Synopses.
|
| 26 / 4 / 03 |
The Shadow Warriors
by Pat Mills and Carlos Ezquerra is now under way, and Spread The
Word will be updated accordingly. For now, though, there's some
more 'Second Opinions' from my esteemed colleage Mr Rowland, which can
be found in the ABC Warriors
Story Synopses; also there's some updates to Immortal
Visions and Prog 1337 has been added to The
Vaults.
Big thanks go to Payndz and Ben Heywood for answering
my cry for help and identifying the artist behind this image.
|
| 22 / 3 / 03 |
There may be a war on, but life goes on...
Spread The Word's first piece of fan art has come in, courtesy
of Craig Antcliff. It can be found in the Miscellaneous
section of Immortal Visions.
Also, the ABC Warriors
and Ro-Busters Story
Synopses are up to date, and the Warriors
Test has been revised.
|
| 16 / 3 / 03 |
First off, I'd like to welcome aboard Chris Rowland as Spread
The Word's newly adopted co-curator. To coincide with his debut,
he's masterminded an ABC Warriors quiz, designed to help you figure
out which of The Warriors you're most like. You can find it in the Disciples
of Khaos section.
Also, there's a new Command
Bunker, which has been given a bit of a make-over to make browsing
easier, and some updates to Immortal
Visions and The Workshop.
And if that wasn't enough for you, there's some new entries into
the ABC Warriors and Ro-Busters
Story Synopses.
I also have a small cry for help: can anyone tell me who the artist
behind this image
is please? You can e-mail me here.
|
| 1 / 3 / 03 |
A little something for all you Nemesis fans, this time...
Covers from the Finnish Nemesis reprints have now been added to The
Vaults, and the Reprint Index
has been updated accordingly. A new Nemesis wallpaper has been added
to The Stores and a new
Torquemada wallpaper has been added to the Temple
of Terminus Giftshop. As ever, see Torq-In
for more.
Also, there's a minor addition to Blackblood's
entry in The Workshop.
|
| 22 / 2 / 03 |
Well, it seems the The
ABC Warriors TFC clan site has vanished completely, to be replaced
with The
Chaos Allstars TFC clan site. Needless to say, the Links
page has been updated accordingly.
Other than that, there's some additional commentary in the Story
Synopses section to get your teeth into, and a cover scan from the
new Nemesis The Warlock collection, Death To All Aliens
is now in The Vaults.
|
| 16 / 2 / 03 |
Busy times here at Spread The Word...
First off, a new addition to the Story
Synopses section. Courtesy of HTML
Gear, there are now three specially adapted guestbooks where you
can leave your own comments on any of the ABC Warriors, Nemesis
or Ro-Busters stories published in 2000AD. Don't
agree with what's been said? Leave your own views for the world to see!
Also, there's some minor updates to the Profiles,
and some problems with the Reprint
Index have been fixed. And if that wasn't enough for you, there's
two new wallpapers available in the Temple
of Terminus Giftshop, featuring the Grand Master himself. See Torq-In
for more.
And finally: The
ABC Warriors TFC clan site has now been declared Missing In Action.
Thank you lads, you did your duty valiantly.
|
| 9 / 2 / 03 |
First off, those of you familiar with 2000AD
Review will know about the upcoming ABC Warriors series.
For those of you who don't, here's the low down...
In Prog 1336 (due 16 April), The ABC Warriors return in The
Shadow Warriors, by Pat Mills and Carlos Ezquerra. Following their
return to Mars in 2001, civil war has broken out, with the Confederacy
of Martian Industries on one side and the Union of Martian Free States
on the other. As the Warriors attempt to 'increase the peace', the Confederacy
hires mercenary company Conflict Management to create a squad of seven
robots to destroy them - seven Shadow Warriors...
A preview of the artwork is available at 2000ADOnline
by clicking here
and here.
In other site news, there's a new collection of curiosities to look
over...
First of all, we have a new page in The
Vaults featuring covers from the French translation reprints, and
an update to the Reprint Index
to go with them. If you're interested, you can also find information
on the ABC Warrior reprints from Germany and Norway. I apologise
now for any dodgy translations.
Also, there's another little curiosity courtesy of 3dTronic:
a 3D computer model of Hammerstein. The section hasn't been updated
since 2001, but you can get a look at it here
if it takes your fancy.
|
| 1 / 2 / 03 |
Added a little curiosity from War
Games Foundry painter Kevin
Dallimore: two alternate paint jobs for the Hammerstein miniature.
You can see them here,
or the original painted version here.
All three can also be found in the Miscellaneous
section of Immortal Visions.
Thanks, again, to George Fairlamb.

|
The Reprint checklist has been
updated to include more information on the upcoming Nemesis The Warlock
collection, Death To All Aliens.
|
| 4 / 1 / 03 |
Well, better late than never:
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
And what better way to kick off 2003 than with something hot from the
rumour mill: it seems that War
Games Foundry may be set to continue their line of 2000AD
miniatures with series based on Bad Company and The ABC Warriors.
At the moment, I can neither confirm nor deny this, but as soon as I
find out more, I'll let you all know.
|
| 7 / 12 / 02 |
Thanks to Chris Rowland for supplying additional commentary
for Dishonourable
Discharge, in the ABC Warriors
Story Synopses.
|
|
16 / 11 / 02 |
A brand new section is now open for you to browse! The
Stores offers you the chance to grab some ABC Warriors related downloads,
in the shape of desktop wallpapers, cardsets for Klondike Deluxe and,
courtesy of Bravenet,
electronic greeting cards. Just to warn you, various parts of the site
have had minor re-shuffles as a result.
And if that wasn't enough for you, there's also a new downloads section
in The
Temple of Terminus: The
Gift Shop. You can now download some Torquemada wallpapers, featuring
the man himself and some of his more famous slogans, each and every
one designed to keep your computer pure...
|
| 10 / 11 / 02 |
Better late than never, we have a new addition to Disciples
of Khaos page: a mailing list. Sign up now and receive notification
of updates to both Spread The Word and The
Temple of Terminus.
Also, there's now a chance for you to report any deviant sightings
via The Temple of Terminus GuestMap. As ever, read Torq-In
for more.
|
| 9 / 11 / 02 |
You can now see the full range of 2000AD miniatures from
War Games
Foundry here at Spread The Word by clicking here.
And if that isn't enough for you, there's also new additions to the
Story Synopses and The
Fields of Battle.
Also, there's some updates to The
Temple of Terminus - read Torq-In
for more.
Thanks go to Rory at the excellent Sindex
- The Sinister Dexter Index for linking Spread The Word.
|
| 26 / 10 / 02 |
Credo! The History of Nemesis
The Warlock is finally complete and on-line. As with the other history
pages, it's by no means a comprehensive history, and will probably undergo
various revisions in the future. But don't worry, there aren't too many
big words. Hur! Hur!
To coincide with the debut of the
Nemesis History page, a new pop-up
has been added to the ABC Warriors
History page, looking back over the 2000AD computer
games of yesteryear. Also there's some new images in the Immortal
Visions section, some minor updates to the Blackblood
and Joe profile pages and
the Reprint Index, and some
new additions to the Story Synopses.
And if that wasn't enough for you, there's also a new section in the
Links page for you to browse,
concerning merchandise (books, toys, etc), as well as some minor updates
to Temple
of Terminus - read Torq-In
for more.
Again, I have to ask if anyone can tell me what's happening with the
ABC Warriors TFC clan site (http://www.btinternet.com/~abc_warriors/index.html)?
It's been down for quite a while now, and showing no signs of reappearing
any time soon. If anyone - especially any members of the clan - can
help, please e-mail
me.
|
|
12 / 10 / 02 |
Updated the Judge
Dredd Movie pop-up in the History
section, to include the ABC
War Robot model kit.
You can find a review of the kit at the Starship
Modeler website here,
or at the Lifeforce
Studio website here.
Anyone interested in buying a kit, should probably check out e-bay
or The Robot
Warehouse.

| 8 / 10 / 02 |
War Games
Foundry is set to launch a new series of 2000AD lead
miniatures, featuring none other than Hammerstein. You can see
the new range at the War Games Foundry site here,
or click here
to see the Hammerstein miniature.
Thanks to George Fairlamb for telling me about this.
|
| 6 / 10 / 02 |
Updates to some of the Profiles
and the Supporting Cast section.
Also, there are some new images in The
Workshop to peruse, and some more updates to the Story
Synopses.
|
| 21 / 9 / 02 |
Some brand new entries into the Temple
of Terminus. Apart from some new entries into The
Bestiary, The
Royal College of Terminators and The
Vats, there is also a new section in the form of The
Mausoleum, a chance to look back at the predecessors of Torquemada
and The Terminators.
Also a site
map and a 'what's
new?' page have been added.
|
| 28 / 8 / 02 |
Word just in: Nemesis The Warlock: Death To All Aliens is to
released on February 23 2003, in hardcover. More news as it comes in...
|
| 24 / 8 / 02 |
Apart from some new entries to the Supporting
Cast and The Fields of Battle,
there's been a minor re-shuffle of the Links
page to include some new links which might be of interest. Also, the
2000AD cardsets for Reko
Productions' Klondike Deluxe are finally available for direct
download through the Links
page.
Again, my cry for help is repeated: If there's anyone out there willing
and able to contribute synopses for the Ro-Busters stories from
Starlord, please contact me here. I am not
looking to buy the comics, so please don't ask.
Also, for those of you who don't already know, a new ABC Warriors series
is on the horizon. More news as it comes in...
|
| 17 / 8 / 02 |
A minor re-shuffle with the Ro-Busters
Story Synopses, and some updates to the other Synopses
pages.
Finally, a quick cry for help: If there's anyone out there willing
and able to contribute synopses for the Ro-Busters stories from
Starlord, please contact me here.
I am not looking to buy the comics, so please don't ask.
|
| 10 / 8 / 02 |
There are several new entries to the Story
Synopses, as well as some minor updates to various pages.
|
| 3 / 8 / 02 |
A minor update this time. Some more commentary from Mr Chris Rowland
has been added into The Workshop,
and some new pop-ups have been thrown in, as well as some new images
and backgrounds. Hopefully, there'll be some new entries in the Story
Synopses soon.
A [ridiculously] small links page been added to The
Temple of Terminus, which includes an e-mail link and a chance to
sign the guestbook.
|
| 20 / 7 / 02 |
Apart from repairing more of those pesky broken links, there's been
a few minor revisions to The Workshop,
as well as a bit of shuffling about with the Story
Synopses and the Torquemada
profile page; some of the other profiles have had pop-ups added (watch
out for the words highlighted in green).
Also, to help fully accomodate The
Temple of Terminus mini-site, The
Words of Torquemada page has been moved into The
Temple of Terminus.
Finally, a quick plea for help: Can anyone tell me what's happening
with the ABC Warriors TFC clan site (http://www.btinternet.com/~abc_warriors/index.html)?
It's been down for quite a while now, and showing no signs of reappearing
any time soon. If anyone can help, please e-mail
me.
|
| 6 / 7 / 02 |
It gives me great pleasure to announce that The
Temple of Terminus mini-site is now on-line! Dedicated to Torquemada
and his armies, it's got everything you could ever hope to know about
the Royal Family, the world of Termight and, of course, The Terminators.
Click the link above, if you're pure enough...
As for Spread The Word, there's been some minor revisions to
the site to help accomodate The Temple of Terminus, and updates
to the Links page.
|
| 23 / 6 / 02 |
For those of you who don't know, Titan Books release a new version
of the ABC Warriors: The Black Hole graphic novel in September
2002. You can find out more in the Reprint
Index, and a cover scan in The
Vaults.
|
| 22 / 6 / 02 |
Some minor revisions to the site.
|
| 18 / 6 / 02 |
Some more Workshop commentary
from Mr Rowland has been added, and broken links have been fixed.
|
| 17 / 6 / 02 |
The Workshop has been updated,
with some fresh commentary, courtesy of Mr Christopher Rowland
(cheers Chris!)
|
| 16 / 6 / 02 |
Well, it's taken a little while, but we're here!
The more eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed the 'v1.1' on the
front page. This essentially means the overhaul to the site I've been
promising myself is finally finished and been uploaded. As you'd expect
from a v1.1 build, some things are the same and some are different.
I don't really want to spoil the surprises, but here's a few things
that you can look out for...
-
The Timeline has been removed, simply because mapping ABC Warriors
continuity is impossible.
-
New bits and pieces have been added to the Profiles
section, bringing it up to date, and the profiles themselves have
been refined a little. A new Nemesis profile page is going to be added
a little later.
- The History
pages have been given an overhaul in an attempt to give Nemesis
and Ro-Busters bigger roles in the site.
- The Story Synopses
pages have been given a once over to make browsing them a little easier.
As for the synopses themselves, several entries have been completed,
bringing it as up to date as I can.
- Prog and reprint checklists have been given their
own section: The Supply Room.
- The Gallery
has been given a complete overhaul, with two brand new sections, and
some fresh content in the Covers
Gallery.
- Creator
biogs and Links have been
updated.
- A Guestbook
and Site Map have been added.
